About the program

Credit Union Young Leaders of Manitoba (CUYLM) Executive Team invites you to be part of the 2025 Mentorship Program.

This program is dedicated to developing top talent within the credit union system by facilitating formal mentorship relationships between employees across Manitoba. Our goal is to create opportunities for young and emerging leaders to connect with mentors, build connections, deepen networks, enhance self-awareness, develop leadership skills, and share knowledge and experiences. Mentees will also be offered a free DISC Assessment, to gain better self-understanding, and promote open conversations.

Who are the mentees?

Are you an emerging leader working at a Manitoba credit union? Are you self-driven to engage in a mentoring relationship? Are you seeking mentorship as part of your development journey? Can you commit to the mutually agreed time required to meet with a mentor and put in the effort? Can you obtain authorization from your direct manager to be part of the mentorship program? Then you are encouraged to apply to become a mentee.

Who are the mentors?

All mentors are experienced leaders within the Manitoba credit union system, including executives, CEOs, and many former members of the CUYLM Executive Team. Note: Being a leader is not based on job title, but the desire to support others. Collectively, the mentors have experience in the following areas:

  • Business Development

  • Commercial/Agricultural Lending

  • Policy & Procedures, Operations

  • Sales & Relationship Management

  • Executive/Senior Management

  • Retail Branch Management

  • Financing Restructuring

  • Marketing & Communications

  • Technology & Digital Transformation

  • And more.

Mentorship relationship

Once the mentee and mentor have been connected, the objectives/structure of the mentorship will be established. This will be driven by the mentee but mutually agreed upon.

This year’s program will run from March 12 to November 5, 2025. The expectation for the time commitment is a minimum of one hour per month, with meeting frequency and length to be mutually determined by each mentor/mentee.

CUYLM will provide guidelines and resources to each mentor/mentee to help facilitate relationships. This will include DISC Assessment, suggested topics, meeting formats, and resources. These resources, along with a mentorship agreement, will be provided at the beginning of the relationship.
